INTRODUCING: INTERACTIVE THERAPY MURALS- FALL SCENE

Mural being used in a Children's Rehab Outpatient facility. Treatment is focusing on balance, range of motion and crossing midline.

• VISUAL SCANNING- scan and locate the Velcro dots to place the apples on them.
• FIGURE GROUND- finding the correct color dot amidst the other colors requires visual discrimination and the green dots on green leaves is most difficult.
• FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS (SIMPLE TO MULTISTEP)-ie ‘place the red apples on the red dots OR  ‘place the red apples on the yellow dots an then the green apples on the red dots.
• UPPER EXTREMITY RANGE OF MOTION-any level of reaching and crossing midline can be achieved by adjusting height of mural and placement of pouch. 
• ​BALANCE-this is challenged through both reaching for apples and the placement of the apples in the brown pouch which can be secured anywhere on the mural with velcro.

Mural contains 21 washable closed cell foam apples in 3 colors and 2 sizes that attach to tree with velcro. The apples can be washed with soap and water or cleaning solutions used by your clinic.  Velcro dots are also on ground portion of mural so wheelchair users can place and remove apples at a low level. The brown pouch that holds the apples (pictured at base of tree) can be placed anywhere on the mural using the velcro dots. This allows therapist to work on reaching in all ranges. The mural comes ready to hang with 3M removable strips that allow for some height adjustability. The mural can be easily removed and rolled up to be stored if not in use.

This 4'x6' vinyl removable mural is designed as a patient activity that can be adapted to work on a variety of skills .  It is also  a wonderful tool for students to learn task analysis and adapting an activity to meet patient needs.
